Once upon a time, all old fairy tales begin this way, and our story begins this way too: Once upon a time there was a little girl who was very lonely, because she came to a place where she could not understand the language of the other children. |
There she came across a tiny kitten. It was all alone. Perhaps it has lost its mother, thought the little girl. Do you want to be my friend? she asked gently.
The little girl became a young lady,
and the young lady became a woman
and, the way things are in life,
all of a sudden she had become a grandmother.

Naturally, she was a grandmother with children and grandchildren. After moving for the 18th time in her life, she went to live in Jerusalem. She lived there together with three tomcats. One day she came across a fourth. He was lonely and injured. She took him home with her, against the tomcat's wishes, and nursed him back to health. Then she opened the door to her house and said: if you want you can go. And he went. Two days later he returned, looking for food. From now on she was the grandmother who fed him. Soon, the inevitable happened, and the woman fell in love with the tomcat, in spite of the fact that he didn't even allow her to touch him! However, she enjoyed watching him grow and seeing him become more and more handsome. She liked his long legs, his large ears and the way he could jump such distances so nimbly. In particular she liked his beautifully spotted coat.

In her dreams she hoped to see him father kittens. This was the actual moment the Kanaani cat was born.
